I have been hearing a lot about the Trim Healthy Mama "diet" lately. I have a couple of friends who are following the plan and have had great success, so I decided to get the ebook and check it out. It was a quick and easy read for me, and I found that I couldn't put it down. The concepts introduced make a lot of sense to me, and I decided that I would give it a try. I started trying to incorporate some of the changes I learned into my diet this week. It seems simple enough - cutting out sugar and wheat flour, eating a variety of protein, and separating fats and carbs. I went grocery shopping last night and started totally on the plan today. We'll see how well it works out. I'm anxious and hopeful that it will give me great results.
Today for breakfast, I tried THM pancakes (a recipe from the book). They were delicious, and I ate them with a bit of sugar free syrup, sliced strawberries, and a container of Dannon Oikos Triple 000 yogurt. This is considered an E meal; E stands for energizing. It includes good, healthy carbs. It was a great breakfast, and it definitely filled me up. For lunch I had a big salad including baby spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, grape tomatoes, chia seeds, sunflower seeds, and caeser dressing. I also had a crisped salmon fillet, which I pan fried in coconut oil and seasoned with sea salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. I had never eaten salmon before, and I am not a big fish person. I was skeptical of whether I would like it or not, but it was absolutely delicious. This would be considered an S meal; S stands for satisfying and includes fats. I did breakfast for dinner tonight - 5 pieces of turkey bacon, and eggs scrambled with half n half in coconut oil and covered with sharp cheddar cheese. This is another S meal. I will likely be eating more S meals than E meals as I try to drop my cravings for sugar and carbs. I've replaced sugar with stevia, so I am still able to have my coffee, which makes me uber happy. I had to replace my non dairy creamer with half & half, which has turned out well too. I don't think this diet is going to be hard, just more of a lifestyle change.
Anyway, I cheated earlier in the week with a bacon wrapped pizza from Little Caesars. I was fairly sure that I would have to pay dearly for that, but was pleasantly surprised when I only gained a small amount this week. I am going to have Chris measure me tomorrow so that I can get an updated list of measurements as well.
